ABOUT FINEYE

fineye is an independent monitoring-style dashboard that aggregates publicly available webcams and published news. It is inspired by global monitoring UIs, but focuses on Finland and transparency: no covert access, only sources you could open in a browser yourself.

Not affiliated with Finnish authorities or media — a structured base for research, journalism, and civic awareness projects.

DATA SOURCES AND API CREDITS

• Digitraffic — road, rail, marine and weather traffic datasets.
• Digitransit — routing, transit and micromobility APIs (GTFS / GraphQL / map layers).
• OpenSky Network — aircraft state vectors and flight positions.
• OpenStreetMap and CARTO — basemap tiles and cartographic attribution.
• News aggregation is built from publisher RSS feeds (Finnish and international outlets) configured in this project.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS / ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES

The system expects the following deployment credentials (kept server-side, never exposed in the UI):

• DIGITRANSIT_SUBSCRIPTION_KEY — Digitransit API access key.
• DIGITRAFFIC_USER_AGENT — identifying User-Agent for Digitraffic requests.
• OPENSKY_USERNAME and OPENSKY_PASSWORD (optional) — expanded OpenSky API access.
• DATABASE_URL and DIRECT_URL — PostgreSQL / persistence backend.
